Alzheimers Help’s focus is wrap around, concierge support. With this in mind, our caseload is kept very small so that you can be assured of timely follow ups and to speak with you when it matters. The difference from other professional Counsellors is that you do not have to decide if you will bring or not bring your loved one, do not have to travel to your appointment, and will not sit in a one size fits all office for 50 minutes and then be assigned homework that you are left to do betweeen appointments that can be weeks or months apart.
Our support starts with us coming to you, in your home, to talk for an hour or even up to 2 hours if that’s what you need. And our service does not end there – because we know you may have questions, you might want to refer back to what we discussed or you may have something come up in the hours or days that follow that you want to discuss before your next appointment. That is what concierge service is all about. It goes beyond the time we spend in direct conversation with you because for every visit we have with you, we dedicate up to 3-4 additional hours in travel and documenting time, advocacy calls when that’s what you need and a summary of what we discussed and the offer to make follow up calls for any questions or reassurance that is important to you. We want to ensure that you feel heard and you have options that can work for you.
This is what we mean by wrap-around care—you can trust that we’ll be there for ongoing support, helping you navigate any challenges or questions that arise after our meetings. You don’t need to use all the hours allotted but they are there so you can be sure you won’t feel you are undersupported.
If you feel that you don’t want or need this level of support and prefer to just go with an hourly rate, then we can do that too*.
What Concierge Counselling with wrap-around care looks like:
- A reminder call to ensure that you are still comfortable to host us for the session you booked (because we know that “life happens”).
- Follow-up notes (optional) detailing what we discussed in our session, along with personalized suggestions, tools, and other support resources to consider for further exploration.
- Touchbase call option where you can seek personal guidance, reassurance, new resources or clarification of anything we have explored in our sessions.
- Availability from 8am-8pm (Mon-Fri) & 11am-1pm (weekends) to give you the support and assurance you need, because we know that issues can arise at any hour. This also means that if you want to have family attend who work 9-5, you can book a session for as late as 7pm Monday to Friday.
- Same day follow up (in most cases under 12 hours) so you are never left wondering if you’ve been heard.
- Reminder call or email to keep you on track with next steps if this is part of what you would find helpful…or…
- Advocacy calls (if you wish to have them made on your behalf) to follow up with other care professionals about services or further support you wish to get – with a report on what was discussed and offered.
- Flexible use of your package time, so we can: focus on you & your loved one; training workers; filling in the data for your About Me key; or meeting with other family to help them understand the challenges and how they can be of assistance – essentially exploring and problem solving for anything that is limiting your quality of life or well-being.
- Travel time to your home, saving you hours of time and frustration trying to get to our space – we meet you in yours.
- Comprehensive Consult(If elected) Up to 4 hours of total support, starting with a 90 minute dedicated session. Ideal for those who wish to identify or discuss an issue or even and identify appropriate solutions without committing to a multi-meeting package. Includes everything outlined in our description of “wrap around care” you are assured that you will have the opportunity to follow up, ask for clarification and review your options even after our meeting is done.
- Assessment & Careplanning – A typical visit will entail getting an update about changes, progress with the care plan or new issues and challenges, a discussion of your needs, resources and values and then the offer to examine the options for care that best suit your needs. With the flexibility of making the session short and focused (Consultation) with a follow up report or a longer, emotionally supportive and practical visit (Counselling) – you get to decide what works best for you. Regardless of your choice, you can expect that support will be available for you by phone, email or online in between our planned sessions. Also included is the option to invite other members of your care circle to join a meeting at no extra cost. Includes all of the features listed for our wrap around care service and the provision of a “living, breathing” careplan that can adapt and grow to according to your changing needs.
- Ongoing research of resources and training in best practices of care provision so that you know your Counsellor is always striving to give you the best support they can.
- Documentation of each of our connection times (and topics raised) with a notification of when your last paid session is pending so that you don’t need to track when your support is due to end. This comprehensive approach ensures reliability and no surprises as we navigate your journey.
- Ethical support If we feel that we have done all that we can – or that there are other sevice providers that are better able to meet your needs – we will tell you. We are not interested in contract renewal unless we truly feel we can help you move forward on your journey.
- Assurance that you are offered the option of continued service before new clients are accepted when my caseload reaches its maximum.

Why Choose Personalized Support Over Free Services?
While free services exist, the biggest challenge in our healthcare system is the fragmentation and specialization of care and this is exacerbated by a shortage of qualified professionals. The result is often endless assessments to determine eligibility, with programs scattered across different locations, and long wait times that could stretch into years. It’s a waiting game, dementia doesn’t wait.
During these waiting periods, so much can change. The toll it takes on your health and your quality of life causing isolation, frustration, exhaustion as you try to cope with less – not to mention the decline in the abilities of your loved one – these are the real costs of waiting. The strain it places on your relationships and words that may be spoken in anger or desperation can never be undone. Make no mistake: the price you pay by waiting for fragmented, inconsistent care is significant. You deserve better – you deserve to find personalized, timely support that respects your schedule, your needs, and the moments that truly matter.
